Aidan Shaw gives Carrie a five-year ultimatum (dateline) before they can be totally together. Strangely, she agrees to this needless delay, keeps settling into the Gramercy Park townhouse she purchased for the two of them, and then takes Seema on a luxurious vacation to Greece.
And Just Like That… is an American comedy-drama television series created by Michael Patrick King for HBO Max. It is a revival and sequel to Darren Star‘s Sex and the City, which is based on Candace Bushnell‘s newspaper column and 1996 book anthology of the same name.
The story revolves around Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York Goldenblatt as they struggle to find love and make ends meet in New York City. However, Samantha Jones is noticeably absent from the story for the majority of the series because she currently resides in London.
In the final episode of HBO’s series, Aidan Shaw gives Carrie an ultimatum (dateline) before they can be totally together. So what really happened between them? Well, here is what we’ve discovered.
Previously, we touched on the stories of Bob Hope and Jesse L. Martin.
Dateline: Carrie Receives a Five-Year Ultimatum From Aidan to Delay Their Full-Time Relationship!
In the And Just Like That… Season 2 finale, Carrie Bradshaw received a five-year ultimatum (dateline) from Adam Shaw. It all happened when she acquired a brand-new home to play out her revived romance with him.
This choice was decided purely because he refused to enter her famed Upper East Side flat, and even Aidan shippers on Twitter couldn’t back him up this time.

Aidan throws rocks at Carrie’s window, follows her to her Last Supper party to bid farewell to her beloved flat, and finally steps foot into said flat – only to unleash a bombshell.
He’s decided to stay in Virginia with his 14-year-old son Wyatt after being hospitalized for driving a tractor under the influence of alcohol and magic mushrooms and being unable to return to New York on a bi-weekly basis.
Aidan also declines Carrie’s offer to visit him in Virginia, instead asking her to wait until Wyatt is no longer a teenager before they can rejoin. Later, he gives Carrie a five-year ultimatum (dateline) before they can be totally together.
Strangely, Carrie agrees to this needless delay, keeps settling into the Gramercy Park townhouse she purchased for the two of them, and then takes Seema (Sarita Choudhury) on a luxurious vacation to Greece (well, that last bit makes sense).
Similarly, Twitter users also have some thoughts on Aidan’s decision, and they’re all questioning it. One user tweeted, “Country Lurch wants Carrie to wait FIVE YEARS for him?! is he high???” Another wrote, “Aidan is such a loser asking Carrie to wait 5 years for them to be together, knowing fully well she just sold her prized apartment for this pathetic man omg”
However, Carrie was also chastised for allegedly being willing to wait five years for him. Before Aidan left, Carrie informed him that no matter what happened, their reunion was not a mistake, implying that her dating life may shift yet again next season. She also jokes to Seema that she may get some time off for good behavior, implying that he may return sooner than expected.
This is exactly what showrunner Michael Patrick King said on the And Just Like That… Writers Room podcast while discussing the couple’s future. He explained, “You would only say that if you’re already going, ‘It’s not gonna be five years. She’s very cute, but she does go on to say, ‘There will be others.’”
Whatever happens with them, only time will tell if Aidan can be forgiven by the fans for issuing this ultimatum. Furthermore, the series has been renewed for a third season, but it wouldn’t be the Sex and the City universe if Carrie’s life didn’t include some complexity.
Does Lisa Have a Miscarriage in And Just Like That… Season 2 Episode 10?
In the ninth episode of And Just Like That…, Lisa discovers she is pregnant. She believes that this is the worst time for her to become pregnant again because PBS has decided to turn her documentary into a ten-part series, and she has no idea how she will have a baby and develop a TV show at the same time.

Charlotte and Herbert encourage her, saying they are confident she can balance both, but Lisa is skeptical. She blames Herbert at one point since he supposedly refused to have a vasectomy when she told him. He explains that she had just given birth and that he expected her to change her mind after the postpartum time.
Herbert suggests that abortion is an option and, ultimately, Lisa’s choice, but she later declines. She then wakes Herbert that night to inform him that she is bleeding. When he realizes what this means, he informs her that they should get to the hospital right away. Lisa agrees but adds that it may be too late, implying that she has had a miscarriage.
