In January 2001, Fortune Magazine ranked him as Asia’s Businessman of the Year’s runner-up. He became Singapore’s youngest billionaire at the age of 45. In 1992 and 1997, he became the first person to receive the title of Singaporean Businessman of the Year twice.
He was honored in 2002 as Person of the Year by the Singapore Computer Society for his contributions to the IT sector.
