Actor and director Jason Bateman was born into a Hollywood family on January 14, 1969. His father is producer Kent Bateman and he is the younger brother of Family Ties actress Justine Bateman.
Bateman started his career at a young age playing James Cooper Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie. His big break came when he played the role of Derek Taylor — Rick Schroder‘s scheming neighbor– on Silver Spoons in 1982. Bateman starred in The Hogan Family from 1986-1990. He even directed three episodes and at age 18 became the youngest person inducted into the Directors Guild of America.
After several failed TV series, Bateman landed a role as Michael Bluth in Arrested Development. Although the show was not commercially successful, it was praised by critics and helped Bateman win a Golden Globe. In 2006 the show was canceled, but the year wasn’t all bad — he and wife Amanda Anka welcomed daughter Francesca Nora.
In recent years, Bateman has seen commercial success with movies such as Hancock, Extract, Juno and The Switch.
